Sour Cream. Way Easier Than Pie.

make sour cream at home

You might notice a theme here on Saucy Dipper: Easy dip or sauce recipes that taste good. The key word being easy.

That’s why when I learned how stupid easy it is to make sour cream  I just had to tell you about it. It’s the easiness that makes homemade sour cream so amazing.

It’s so easy that I think we should change the saying “easy as pie” to “easy as sour cream.” Seriously. Who is with me?

The real benefit of making your own sour cream is that you forgo the preservatives found in prepared sour cream. Homemade sour cream has a nice crisp bite, but it is not significantly different from full flavor store-bought sour cream.

Here’s how I made sour cream.

  1. Thank you so much for this! I love sour cream, but hubby HATES it, so when I buy it, is usually goes bad before I can eat all of it. This will perfect to do like a 1/2 recipe when I know I’m going to need some!

  2. I never thought about where sour cream comes from, but now I’m going to have to make my own. We’ll have to do this over Christmas.

Barb just told me you have your own daughter to cook with now. Being mom is the best part of life. I hope we get to meet Maggie soon. Congratulations!

  3. I had no idea it was so easy! I actually need some sour cream for a banana bread recipe I’m staring on tonight. Perfect timing!
