Admit It, We All Take Pictures Of Our Food

I know I’m not alone in my obsession with food picture taking. In a recent New York Times article, they reported that “the number of pictures tagged ‘food’ on the photo-sharing Web site Flickr has increased tenfold to more than six million in the last two years.”

This proves I’ve got a few food friends out there.

The idea for the Saucy Dipper didn’t come to me because of all the photos on my hard drive (although, I am looking forward to sharing those). Rather, the idea came to me when I thought long and hard about what I enjoy talking about.

You guessed it, j’adore sauces and dips.

As the Saucy Dipper, I get to write about something we all love—eating! In my opinion, sauces and dips take the fun in eating up about five notches. Eating changes from just your regular ol’ fork to mouth motion to something delicious you get to soak, coat, and smother. Tell me that’s not fun.

I plan to write about many of the sauce and dip recipes I try and the restaurant-made sauces and dips I order. You’ll also read about my journey learning to make sauce. That’s right, I don’t know how to make a proper sauce, but I’m going to learn and so will you if you decide to follow along.

So, tell me. Will you be my friend?

  1. Dear Geek – Thanks for the compliment, I think.

Chung – Good question. It’s a Buffalo Chicken dip, which I’ll talk about in the next day or so.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Sara, I love that you’re going to write about sauces as you learn about them. I made a piccata sauce once that I thought was pretty good, but that’s the highlight of my sauce-making. I haven’t even mastered tomato sauce yet, which is supposed to be easy! Mine always comes out watery. So I’m excited to learn along with you!

    1. Thanks for visiting Jen! It’s going to be an interesting ride down the sauce making slide. Let’s hope it goes well:)
