Crab Rangoon Dip with Wonton Dippers

It’s tough for me to say what my “favorites” are in life. For instance, I can’t tell you about my favorite book or movie because I’m not really sure which ONE I like best. That feels like too much pressure to pick just one. Same with picking a favorite color, music genre, or time of year. Too much!

However with food I’m a little bit clearer. I can say with real confidence that the chicken curry I ate in Thailand was the best meal I’d ever had. I also know that there is no replacement for a traditional potato chip dip….except maybe crab rangoon dip, which happens to be a favorite appetizer of mine.

A special thank you to my husband who always lets me eat the majority of the appetizer when we go out 🙂

Can’t believe I’ve waited this long to make the crab cheese wonton dip at home! I gotta give credit to my #31daycooks cooking challenge for motivating to make a few things on my list — including this one!

Crab Rangoon Dip Recipe

  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 6 oz. ready to eat crab
  • 8 oz. reduced fat cream cheese
  • 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. honey

Instructions: Saute onion in olive oil for 3-4 minutes or until you start to catch the scent. Add all remaining ingredients and stir. Turn heat down to low and let sit until wonton wrappers are ready. Serve warm.

How to Make Wonton Dippers

You can find pre-made wonton wrappers at the grocery. I baked these dippers two ways: In muffin tins and cut up in strips on a cookie sheet. Be sure to spray both sides of the wrapper with cooking spray. Bake at 375 F for 6-7 minutes or until edges are crispy and brown.

A quick update on my 31 day cooking challenge, which I’ve been talking about quite a bit on my Instagram account. Two weeks in and still going strong! Here’s what I made this past week…

Day 8: Mu shu chicken. Chicken and onion in the slow cooker with simple hoisin sauce and honey. Yum.

Day 9: White wine vinaigrette. I obviously didn’t feel like cooking this day.

Day 10: Pan roasted chicken with pre-made demi glace. Can you believe I’ve never used the iron skillet before?

Day 11: Peanut butter chocolate bars. One of my absolute favorite treats.

Day 12: Focaccia bread. My first bread! Not bad.

Day 13: One pot pasta. Finally making some recipes from my long-ago created Pinterest board.

Day 14: Crab cheese wonton dip. I might’ve eaten this dip for dinner.
