Except today instead of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saucydipper.com\/3146\/all-about-butter\/\">dairy spread<\/a><\/strong> I&#8217;m on to nut butters. Almond butter in particular.<\/p>\n<p>First off, did you know that you need nothing more than 1200 watts of power and a handful of almonds to make almond butter? And no, I&#8217;m not exaggerating about the watts.<\/p>\n<p>I read up on how to make nut butters, and what I read was true: (paraphrasing) Turn on the food processor and when you think you&#8217;re never going to turn your almonds into butter, keep processing for another 10 minutes. It&#8217;ll eventually get there.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-3174\" href=\"https:\/\/www.saucydipper.com\/3173\/making-almond-butter\/almond-butter-midway\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3174\" title=\"almond-butter-halfway\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saucydipper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/almond-butter-midway-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"part of the way through almond butter process\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.saucydipper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/almond-butter-midway-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.saucydipper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/almond-butter-midway-500x375.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.saucydipper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/almond-butter-midway.jpg 548w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-3176\" href=\"https:\/\/www.saucydipper.com\/3173\/making-almond-butter\/dark-almond-butter\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3176\" title=\"dark-almond-butter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saucydipper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/dark-almond-butter-217x300.jpg\" alt=\"what almond butter looks like\" width=\"217\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.saucydipper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/dark-almond-butter-217x300.jpg 217w, https:\/\/www.saucydipper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/dark-almond-butter.jpg 344w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 217px) 100vw, 217px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Because I used my <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saucydipper.com\/1475\/a-review-for-the-kitchenaid-9-cup-food-processor-kfp740\/\">KitchenAid food processor<\/a><\/strong> I had to stop the machine more than two dozen times to push the almond bits down the sides. It was not fun. However, that wasn&#8217;t the worst part.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The almonds in my cupboard were raw and unsalted. To get them more to my liking I threw them in the oven (at 400 F) with a few dashes of sea salt. All was going well until I smelled a faint hint of smoke. Apparently, you only need to roast your almonds for a few minutes&#8211;five minutes max.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Instead of giving up, I took a taste of a burnt almond and thought it was alright. Not ideal, but alright.\u00a0So, into the food processor those toasty almonds went.<\/p>\n<p><em>Do you know what burnt almonds taste like when they&#8217;ve been turned into butter?<\/em> And don&#8217;t say &#8220;burnt almond butter.&#8221; They taste worse. They taste like butt.<\/p>\n<p>The only fix that came to mind was a sweet one. I melted a handful of Dove dark chocolate pieces along with a tablespoon of nut butter, and wowie. That&#8217;s a flavor I&#8217;d buy! It tasted great on bread and on a waffle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Moral of the story: When you burn your <del>nuts <\/del> seeds just add chocolate.<\/strong><\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yes, I&#8217;m still on a butter kick.
