You know I love Mediterranean and Middle Eastern foods. The garlic, the tahini, and all that dipping and saucing makes it one of my most craved cuisines. But pronouncing it, well, that’s a tough one for me. My Midwestern accent means there’s nothing sexy about me saying tzatziki. Pronounced tsah-ZEE-kee, it is a cold sauce and… Continue reading Tzatziki Sauce Harder to Say than Make

Turns Out I Know How to Make Bechamel Sauce and I Still Don’t Like Eggplant
Based on this picture you can probably guess that I made a Middle Eastern-themed meal big enough for 12 people, not two. I spent three hours in the kitchen cooking up hummus, baba ganoush, tzatziki sauce, falafal, and moussaka (with béchamel sauce). My motivation for making this feast came in part from my urge to… Continue reading Turns Out I Know How to Make Bechamel Sauce and I Still Don’t Like Eggplant
Why Do You Dissapoint Me, Oh Sweet Dessert Dips?
In my last post I talked about a couple of the Iowa-themed dips that I made with my family last week. You see, I grew up in Iowa, but now call Denver home. During a quick trip in Iowa I subjected my family to my dippy ways. Anyway…that’s not the point. The point is that… Continue reading Why Do You Dissapoint Me, Oh Sweet Dessert Dips?
A Fine Place to Dip. Iowa, You Rock.
I recently visited family in Iowa and forced them to endure my Saucy Dippiness. I don’t think they minded, though. At least I saw them take seconds and willingly take leftovers home, which leads me to believe they enjoyed themselves. But then again, my mom and nephew did a lot of the cooking, so they… Continue reading A Fine Place to Dip. Iowa, You Rock.
When My First Hand Blender Met Black Beans – A Memorable Dip
Aside from sour cream and cream cheese, I think beans make for one of the best dip bases. I suppose it helps that I like the taste and appreciate the low-fat protein qualities. Nutritional value always seals the deal. Today’s featured black bean dip has only 17 calories per tablespoon (good luck beating that) and… Continue reading When My First Hand Blender Met Black Beans – A Memorable Dip

Puerto Rican Dipping Sauce
Several months back I attended my good friend Larissa’s wedding in San Juan and had the pleasure of eating some great Puerto Rican food. No joke – I could eat mofongo and sweet plantains every day. In the picture I’m eating a crab cake dipped in chipotle aioli. Not exactly Puerto Rican food, but whatever,… Continue reading Puerto Rican Dipping Sauce
How I Made My First Red Sauce (kind of)
It’s day two of Dipstock and so far, so good. To kick off the festivities I tried at least eight different sauces and dips with girlfriends yesterday. The pictures and recipes are coming soon… In the meantime I want to tell you a little bit about my experience making red sauce.

When BLT Dip Dissapoints and Bagel Chips Can’t Stand the Pressure
Paula Deen’s BLT dip sounds fab. I mean, it includes bacon and everything. But in reality, it was just a little too salty and a little too tricky to eat for my liking. Bagel chips broke in half and lettuce pieces slipped around all over the place.
